Happy New Year Young Democrats!
On behalf of the Essex County Young Democrats, we would love to express our sincerest gratitude to everyone who supported our FIRST fundraiser, “Home for the Holidays.” We successfully raised over $2,000 because of your contributions! This event couldn’t have been possible without YOU, and thank you is truly not enough. In our first fundraiser's efforts, we honored three impactful people in our organization. We are forever grateful for the leadership, tenacity, and commitment they have made to Young Democrats not just in Essex County but across the state!

2024 Democratic National Convention Delegate Application is Now Open!
The 2024 DNC Convention will occur in Chicago from August 19th, 2024 to August 22nd, 2024. The Delegate Selection Plan lays out the rules and procedures for the allocation and election of delegates to serve under the New Jersey Delegation.
Applications are now open! If you are interested in applying, please join this information session hosted by New Jersey Young Democrats and the New Jersey Democratic State Committee ELC on January 17th at 6pm. During this session, the NJDSC will walk attendees through the application and answer questions.

Legislative News and Recent Bills
On January 4th, 2024, Senate Bill 1888/Assembly Bill 3690: "New Voter Empowerment Act"; permits 17 year olds to vote in primary election if they turn 18 years old before next succeeding general election was officially signed into law by the Honorable Governor Philip D. On January 4th, 2024, Senate Bill 3330/Assembly Bill 5015: Requires school districts to provide instruction on grief as part of New Jersey Student Learning Standards in Comprehensive Health and Physical Education signed into law by the Honorable Governor Philip D. 2024 State of the State Address
On January 9th, the Honorable Governor Philip D. Murphy delivered his 2024 State of the State Address. Governor Murphy spoke on how to continue making New Jersey a stronger, fairer, and affordable state.
